MOUNT  LONGONOT NATIONALPARK

ist einer der erloschenen Vulkane im Grossen Grabenbruch. Der Schildvulkan weist noch schwarze Lava aus, die noch nicht bewachsen ist, was zeigt, wie jung er noch ist. 

Der 2.886 m hohe Vulkan ist ein Nationalpark und wer möchte kann in 4 - 5 Stunden hochspazieren und den Krater umrunden. Von dem Rundweg aus bieten sich Ausblicke in die Caldera aber auch auf seine Nebenkrater. Gutes Schuhwerk und Regenschutz sind notwendig. Ranger stehen als Begleitung zur Verfügung.

is one of the dormant vulcanoes in the Great Rift valley. It still has retained the the textbook conical shape of the young volcano. A few are very young, with the black jagged lava flows still sterile and yet to break down into soils that support plant life. 

The 2.886 m high volcano is a national park. Who ever feels like can take the 4 - 5 hours hike up and around the crater. From the circuit you have a good view into the caldera, secondary craters and the surrounding area. Good shoes and rain coat are necessary. Rangers to escort you are available.
